Name of the game

Welcome! If you have got this far then I bet you are interested in finding out about what boffer and battle games are really about. There are many different forms of this sport such as Amtgard, Belegarth, Dagorhir and Herthlight to name a few. What sport we practice is Belegarth but most any of these games can cross over with each other as long as you know the rules. Its a fun and easy way to pass time and exercise to boot!

About the Fighting

The term 'boffer' refers to a contact weapon (swords, spears, clubs, arrows, hammers, etc.) that is made from light weight materials and padded with foam to prevent injury. Foamsmiths can create and make about any weapon with the right materials. Most weapons are comprised of a core( usually fiberglass or pvc) and the foam that pads it, and concluding with a cover. not only dose the sport use weapons but shields as well. Boffering in Belegarth is a full contact and because of this it is not entirely painless. It is possible to get a bruise or welt, however, with properly padded weapons, there is very little chance of any major injury. Other sports, such as football, baseball, or hockey, are more likely to injure, so if you can play those games, you should be able to handle boffering with ease. Now that you know  a little more about the fighting side of the sport, what's next you ask? Getting out on the field and learning the fighting techniques! There are many different groups that meet, and you can find any around your area by visiting the Belegarth forums. When you find a unit near you, you can learn the rules and soon, with practice, become the warrior you always were meant to be!
